Ardabil Carpets LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art

I went to LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art again for the second time in four days to see the Ardabil carpet and to take some more pictures. This time, the Ardabil Carpet is on display as part of the "Gift of the Sultan" exhibition. This is the oldest dated Persian carpet with the signature of the weaver.
The translation for the signature is:
a couplet from a ghazal by poet Hafiz

Other than thy threshold I have not refuge in this world.
My head has no resting place other than this doorway.
Work of a servant of the court, Maqsud of Kashan, in the year 946 (1539–40)

  1. How about this for a design for a wall painting, in the tried-and-true Art Nouveau style?: http://EN.WahooArt.com/A55A04/w.nsf/OPRA/BRUE-8BWN3L, by the famous English artist, Audrey Beardsley himself. You can also order a canvas print of the picture from wahooart.com.
